Rubber Powered Planes

Keith,

Here's Ray Harlan's site.

Click on "Materials" button from homepage.   Then look at "Ultrafilm".  Superultrafilm is probably too fragile for what you want, but Ultrafilm may be worth getting, I don't know.  Ultrafilm is transparent, colorless.  Anything having natural refraction colors is probably too fragile for anything over 8 grams.   Anyhow, lists the weights of both films.  Thickness wise, Ultrafilm is 1.2 micron.   The next heavier film I know of is 2 micron film Mylar sold by Mike Woodhouse, Free Flight Supplies UK. .  The next heavier is 5 micron, sold by same guy.   BTW, 5 micron is the same as 1/4 MIL.    His website,  http://www.freeflightsupplies.co.uk/   To find films, first click on "Indoor" button on left of homepage.  Then scroll down to find "lightweight coverings" and click there.

All the above show weight data, I think.

HTH,

Mark Bennett

I'd like to thank Mark for his information on covering materials.  Mark is very knowledgeable and I believe we can learn a lot from him and find new ideas and materials in the ever smaller indoor electric RC planes.

I hope we can add more links here for the very light planes.  Send in your ideas.

I publish Metro Area R/C Flying to make a central web site for all the area R/C clubs, not to replace individual club sites, but to tie all of them together and promote growth and interaction between clubs. The most important service of the web site is to post the Metro Area Schedule. The schedule lists all the events for all the clubs in one location so that R/C flyers can see what events are available in the area and plan ahead. I believe it will also help the area clubs to work out their schedules so that a club event, will not conflict, with another club's event. The next most important service is to provide a Page that has maps to all the events, meetings, dinners and parties. Right after that comes the Newsletter Page which lists club newsletters. Reading other club newsletters lets members see what others are offering in the area that they are interested in and promotes interaction between clubs.  This is your web site, if you would like to show-off your newest plane, or share an experience, you can E-Mail pictures and articles to me at: MetroRCFlying@Gmail.com  There’s an Email Link on every page.
