April Fool for Metro RC Flying
Time goes by Quickly and it's now been approximately
seven years since I started doing Web Sites for the
Local Clubs.
On April Fools Day, my computer decided to play an
April Fool on me. It suddenly just stopped
running. (Monitors went black and fans
stopped)
I took it back to DIT where it was originally built.
They said that it had burned out the power supply;
the motherboard, processor and the RAM would have to
be replaced, but the hard disk would run again when
that was fixed. I said go ahead and fix it
since I didn't want to have to reformat the hard
drive.
From then on things got worse. After the parts
where replaced, they spent four hours trying to get
the hard drive to run but it never did. My
video cards were no longer right for the new
motherboard and processor so I had to buy a new one.
(They no longer make the old motherboard or
processor)
I could fill this entire page with the
details, but I won’t. I now have a rebuilt computer
with nothing but Windows XP on it. By the time I
got all the new cords and converters to make
everything work again, it came to more that
$690.00. They tell me that since it's rebuilt, it's
only guaranteed for one month.
I figured now that I am completely out of
money, it would be a good time to get a new printer
since my old one is no longer working. There went
another $200.00.

Ed buys his airplane magazines from
www.buy-topia.com,
which is one of my web sites with Amazon. Ed
always e-mails me to let me know of his latest
purchase. If more people did this, I would
have less difficulty funding Metro Area R/C Flying
and the four Club web sites that I publish.

Funds to Keep
Operating Club Web Sites
To pay for the rent on my web space,
software for making web sites, and
previously-mentioned
expenses, I
put ads on my web sites and became both a Google
affiliate and an Amazon affiliate.
These pay a little but unfortunately very little.
If any of you are planning to buy new airplanes,
cameras, electronic equipment or just about
anything, then go to one of my web sites and click
on an Amazon Ad. They carry a tremendous
amount of different products for a really good
price.
I am a Amazon
Affiliate
When you click on an Amazon Ad on one of my
Web Sites, you will go to the Amazon web site. If
you buy something, Amazon will pay me between 4% and
6% of it's cost for referring me to them. (You must
purchase the item without leaving their site after
you have gone there from one of my ads. (You have
to buy something from Amazon for me to be paid).
I am a Google
Affiliate
Unlike the Amazon ads, the Google ads are
pay-per-click. That means that every time someone
clicks on one of my Google ads they pay me
something. They usually pay one to 25 cents. I
never have quite figured out how they determine how
much to pay for each click.
