12 gram Aito Bi-Plane

This is just preliminary ramblings on what might work.

I'm sure I can come up with something more expensive.

At this point I don't know if the RX & servos can run off 1 LiPo cell plus I don't know if the muscle wire servos will have enough power

Plane:

12.6 gram Aito Bi-Plane.

List of possible motors to power it with:

The Mighty Midget 13/3/12T Gold Series is the hotter wind of the two 1-cell 13mm stator motors. It weighs just 5.2 gms bare. With a GWS 5x3 it develops 51g of thrust and pulls 1.77 amps. With a 6x3 prop it develops 61g of thrust and pulls 2.29 amps (see BL performance page for complete performance specs). With a 5x3 prop its amp draw is well suited to the E-Tec 250mAh. With a 6x3 prop the higher amp draw will result in shorter flight times unless a larger capacity cell is used. The motor comes with our 3-pin connectors installed to match our YGE4-BL controllers for a plug and play solution, but can also be used with the Micro Invent MBC2-BL 1-cell controller if you solder the corresponding plug on the controller. Use either our BSD or Mighty Midget BL motor mounts and either our BSD press-fit 1.5mm shaft GWS prop adapters or the Mighty Midget collet type prop adapters. Motor mount, prop, and prop adapter must be purchased separately.

List of possible ESC's:

Heino Jung's YGE4-BL "ESC". 1 to 3 LiPo cells. 4 amps max motor current. Weight is 2.1 grams w/connectors. It comes with a JST plug to work with the JMP servo RX and others RXs using JST plugs (the wires might have to switched for some other brands). It comes with our 2-pin polarized plug for the battery connection, and our 3-pin plug for use with the brushless motors Additional polarized plugs and 3-pin plugs are available on the Misc Electronics page.

Info that shows projected weight completely wrong:

It looks to me like their total flying weight might be 12.3 grams in the picture of the plane on the scale at the top of the page.  I thought that was just the weight of the foam!  The projected is just using some of the lighter stuff that I personally know of but maybe it's not near light enough.

I see that on the start of the video it says 13.5 grams.  "I'm conflicted!"

I publish Metro Area R/C Flying to make a central web site for all the area R/C clubs, not to replace individual club sites, but to tie all of them together and promote growth and interaction between clubs. The most important service of the web site is to post the Metro Area Schedule. The schedule lists all the events for all the clubs in one location so that R/C flyers can see what events are available in the area and plan ahead. I believe it will also help the area clubs to work out their schedules so that a club event, will not conflict, with another club's event. The next most important service is to provide a Page that has maps to all the events, meetings, dinners and parties. Right after that comes the Newsletter Page which lists club newsletters. Reading other club newsletters lets members see what others are offering in the area that they are interested in and promotes interaction between clubs.  This is your web site, if you would like to show-off your newest plane, or share an experience, you can E-Mail pictures and articles to me at: MetroRCFlying@Gmail.com  There’s an Email Link on every page.
