Gene, Mac, and Jim from the Grand Island/Hastings Nebraska area.  This is the 3rd year they have attended our event.  The yellow biplane on the left is Jim Stulkin's 1929 Fleet.  The blue-and-yellow one on the table is Gene's Fokker D7

Steve Jordan and Harold Zimmermann about to commit aviation with Harold's big foam Fokker Eindecker.  It's probably the biggest foam airplane you will ever see flying around here.  Very slow!

Tents after the wind Big Etrich Taube flown by Jay from Colorado.  It is controlled by wing warping on the wingtips, and also the elevator.  Very graceful in flight, but strictly a "no wind" kind of airplane

Western Front Dawn Patrol's Annual Fall Fun Fly 2010

Well, our 2010 event is now history, and will no doubt be remembered for the weather as much

as anything. Between the wind, rain, and cold, it's hard to believe that we could still manage to have a good time.

But as anyone who is involved in our hobby knows, this is only 50% about flying. The most important part of the hobby is the people you meet. I think we will all remember Saturday evening's gab session around the clubhouse stove as we swapped stories, jokes, and lies.

And then there was the food. Terry Lamm really outdid himself, both with the menu and the preparation.

"When we cannot fly, what do we do? WE EAT!" I think I gained 5 pounds, and anyone who didn't get their bellies full wasn't trying very hard.

There was some flying Friday evening, and Saturday when the weather permitted. Most flying was done on Sunday, despite the low ceiling and occasional (alright, frequent) mist.

But the best part of the whole event was you folks. And for that I salute you.

Salute!

Best regards,
Dean Dingman
